The TEC School of Technical Education was created on December 10, 2008 with the purpose of contributing to Costa Rican society through the training of technical educators.

Technical education is considered a fundamental element for the country’s socioeconomic development and a factor that contributes to social mobility.

The most important programs emphasized by the School can be summarized as follows:

Related areas

Technical Education as a specific branch of education is not a science in itself, but is the result of contributions from many other disciplines, such as philosophy, psychology, pedagogy, teaching, statistics, and social sciences. Therefore, the curriculum is organized based on several related areas, including:

Pedagogy: Pedagogy includes the different types of knowledge that makes education a social phenomenon, directly related to human beings as psychosocial entities.

Psychopedagogy: Education is closely related to human beings. When the curriculum is designed, it is therefore important to consider the understanding of elementary psychological phenomena and how they determine the processes of teaching and learning; in this way, educators can develop their own research and pedagogical strategies, as well as design scenarios that foster effective processes of teaching and learning.

This area also contributes to the development of teachers' skills, such as their ability to create dynamic teams, communicate assertively, display leadership, and, in general, create a climate and pedagogical culture that contributes to achieving the objectives of teaching.

Interdisciplinarity: Education has many aspects that are directly related to human beings and their coexistence in society. Interdisciplinarity is important because it permits explaining a wide variety of problems or situations, and is included as a response to the demand for attention in different fields.
