Vicerrectoría y Extensión of Tecnológico of Costa Rica shares one of the participations of one of the members of the PARMA group, Dr. Ing. Juan Luis Crespo Mariño.

The professor and researcher of the Academic Area of ​​Mechatronic Engineering of TEC, Dr. Eng. Juan Luis Crespo Mariño was one of the special guests to the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society International Student Conference (ISC Latin America), which was held every day September 27 and 28, at the facilities of Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP), in Lima.

The academic was invited especially by the organizers to participate in several discussion panels and analyzes on the future of biomedical engineering in the Latin American region, both in terms of the training of undergraduate and graduate students, as well as the development of projects of research and technological development.

Also, and fruit of the participation of the Academic Area of ​​Mechatronics in research projects of high level researcher, funded with FEES funds, made two plenary presentations entitled "The development of a ventricular assist device: R & D example" and "Therapy personalized treatment for cancer in Costa Rica: from research to clinical use ".

During his participation in the forum, Professor Crespo managed to establish several international contacts that were especially useful for TEC.

Dr. Crespo is coordinator of the Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence for Natural Sciences (LIANA), where projects related to the application of artificial intelligence to the development of active medical devices are executed. He is also a member of the PARMA Group.
