This career combines mathematics, pedagogy and computing. Topics such as geometry, algebra, analysis and statistics are covered, all applied to the appropriate use of technologies in the processes of teaching and learning mathematics.
Until now, teaching in Costa Rica, and in particular the teaching of mathematics, has not taken advantage of technological advances to improve its practices, and this career is offered by the TEC to remedy this situation.
The bachelor’s degree has been recognized by the National System of Accreditation of Higher Education (Sinaes) since October 2008, which has strengthened the quality of the career.
This program is designed for persons who like mathematics and mathematics teaching; for professionals committed to academic excellence and solving social problems associated with ethical values; at leaders in proposing and implementing research projects in the fields of mathematics teaching, use of technologies, learning theories, and mathematics didactics.
Graduates can work as educators in the field of mathematics in public or private educational institutions.
- Educators who have a bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees in mathematics, or in computer sciences and education with different areas of emphasis.
- Laboratories, audiovisual, computer equipment and other technological tools such as the TEC Digital.
Those who graduate with a bachelor’s or licentiate’s degree have the possibility of continuing their postgraduate studies in national or foreign universities to obtain specializations in particular curricular areas.
Students who have completed at least one semester of the program and have good academic performance may choose to work as student assistants or tutors.
